Q: When did you first hear about roller derby on PEI?

A: I heard about roller derby in 2012.

Q: What attracted you to roller derby?

A: I would have to say the strong like minded individuals. I loved that no matter what or who you are you are welcomed with open arms.

Q: When did you join?

A: I went to the open house in August 2014 with $ in hand. I didn’t even need to try on equipment. I knew it was going to happen.

Q: What is your favorite part of the sport?

A: Everything about this sport makes me smile.

Q: What is your day job?

A: I manage my local KFC. And have three fabulous children who keep me rather busy. It is hard to get out sometimes but man I man it sure does feel good when I do.

Q: How has roller derby changed your life?

A: Roller Derby has made me a confident women. I am stronger now then I have ever been.

Q: Do you have any derby goals for 2016?

A: I don’t think is a secret that I really aspire to become a Jammer some day.

Q: Any advice for people who may be interested in joining?

A: The only advice I can give to anyone is if you even have the slightest thought in the back of your mind that you might want to be a part of the roller derby family, Do It. You won’t regret it.

Q: When did you first hear about roller derby on PEI?

A: I first found out about roller derby when flipping through Family magazine at work one day in November of 2011.

Q: What attracted you to roller derby?

A:  I always loved roller skating as a kid and roller blading as I got older, as well as sports of all nature. Combining those two were a dream come true for me. Once I heard about roller derby, there was no way to keep me from it.

Q: When did you join?

A: Nov. 2011 I joined and by mid- December I had my gear and could skate with all the other members.

Q: What is your favorite part of the sport?

A: My favorite part of roller derby is its constant evolution. There are always a new strategies to learn and new skills to master.

Q: What is your day job?

A: By day I work in retail as a decor consultant.

Q: How has roller derby changed your life?

A: Derby had perhaps given me new perspective in how to prioritize my life. It requires a lot of time, so I have to balance that with family time and work.

Q: Do you have any derby goals for 2016?

A:  I’ve been off skates for over a year, so my goal is to get back into ‘derby shape’, rebuild my endurance and compete again.

Q: Any advice for people who may be interested in joining?

A: I believe if it interests someone in any capacity that they should come out and try it. Everything else can be learned.
